Center on Demography and Economics of Aging
Data Research and Development Center (DRDC)
Population Research Center

NORC's four academic centers provide a collegial, interdisciplinary environment in which University of Chicago faculty can conduct social science research as NORC research associates. This research may be part of the large-scale survey and analytic projects housed in NORC’s related research departments, although that is not a requirement for center membership. The centers provide a supportive environment for these faculty members and their students, computing services, training programs, grants administration, services from NORC’s special library, workshops and conferences, and specialized services to meet the needs of individual projects. Three of the four centers receive general grant funds to support their infrastructure: the Population Research Center through a population center grant from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development; the Center on Demography and Economics of Aging from a National Institute on Aging center grant; and the Alfred P. Sloan Center on Parents, Children, and Work from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The DRDC is supported by the U.S. Federal government’s Interagency Education Research Initiative.

Research Centers

Alfred P. Sloan Center on Parents, Children, and Work
The Sloan Center brings faculty from across the University of Chicago together to conduct research in issues facing working parents and their children.

Center on Demography and Economics of Aging
The Center on Demography and Economics of Aging allows University of Chicago faculty with other national and international colleagues to research health, demographic and economic issues related to aging.

Data Research and Development Center (DRDC)
The Data Research and Development Center (DRDC) conducts research to improve understanding of the conditions under which educational interventions that prove to be effective in one setting can or cannot be extended to larger or more diverse populations. DRDC also supports investigators carrying out research across the country as part of the U.S. Federal government’s Interagency Education Research Initiative (a collaboration of the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development).

Population Research Center
The Population Research Center provides a forum for University of Chicago faculty to conduct interdisciplinary studies of fertility and population issues.
