About NORC

NORC to Develop Humanities Indicators for AAAS

With support from the Mellon Foundation, NORC will develop prototype indicators for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) as part of the Humanities Indicators Project. The project’s goal is to form a comprehensive picture of the state of humanities in the United States and establish a framework for compiling, analyzing and publishing comprehensive trend data about the humanities. The indicators will help equip researchers and policymakers, universities, foundations, museums, libraries and other public humanities institutions with better statistical tools for answering basic questions about the humanities.
